Description

This Pemberton 'Sunsets' Chardonnay 2017 has great fruit flavours of rock melon, peach and hazelnut which carry through on the palate with a creamy texture and a soft, mouth-watering acidity. The wine has been subtly oaked with 6 months treatment in French barriques. A Chardonnay for any occasion.

The producer of this fantastic Pemberton Sunsets Chardonnay 2017 is located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia and is one of the most awarded wineries in the region. They are one of WA's largest family owned and operated wine producers.

The current owners represent the third and fourth generation living and working on the Frankland River winery. It is this family's love and commitment the Great Southern, as well as the unique combination in Frankland River of gravelly loam soils, warm sunny days and cool nights during the ripening season that produces grapes of intense varietal character and a sense of place. The also source sensational fruit from nearby Pemberton. The winery is rated a perfect 5 Red Stars by James Halliday in his 2017 Wine Companion and has been rated this way for many years.

Comments from Our Wine Buyer: The Great Southern is my favourite WA wine region. The amount of top quality wine coming out of the region is just phenomenal. I believe the Chardonnay coming out of Pemberton and Frankland has now overtaken Margaret River in terms of intensity of fruit flavour and quality. This Chardonnay is full beautiful tropical melon flavours and has a medium texture on the palate from subtle oak treatment. The fruit used is just outstanding. My Score 91/100 WACC Silver medal.
