Description

Dense brick red hue and starting to show signs of careful ageing. Dark cherry and plum up front with secondary sage like dried herbs. Soft juicy fruit initially on the palate, as it moves towards the back the signature elegant acid and tannin profile that epitomises Sangiovese becomes evident. Bottled in 2013 after extended maturation in small format seasoned French oak barrels.

The producer of this wine is a very small family operation with very little retail presence other than in restaurants and via cellar door. The family has shifted recently from wine making to truffle growing in the Manjimup area. They have never gone down the road of wine shows or rating by James Halliday preferring to keep it local and produce wines of exceptional quality. All wines produced are in small batches with love, care and respect for the grape.

Comments from Our Wine Buyer : The Romans use to drink it so why shouldn’t we! Sangiovese dates to roman times and we have been extremely lucky to get a hold of some 2013 Western Australian Sangiovese from a very small boutique family producer. The winery has grown some exquisite fruit to make this awesome Sangiovese. The wine has benefited some from good time in bottle and is full and rich with intense flavours of dark cherry. I love it with a good tapas plate. My score 93/100 - WACC Gold Medal
